The lines show these parts of the D&M are quite straight. When I draw lines up the centers of the pyramid edges they form geometric angles as shown. Of the two a's one is 50 degrees and one is 48 degrees, probably within the limit of accuracy of this illustration. The two b's may be tube like entrances.
